Most threads are on auto control as the Mods will look into it,if not the thread starter…….but a few threads, the more popular ones, need more attention.

For these, thread leaders have been mentioned……this is not just the answering of questions by the newer traders,it also means putting up charts, talking about something that catches your attention, exceptions to the law probably, etc, etc……basically to take the thread as if it you were your own and be responsible for it.It would be great if at the end of every few months, charts denoting gains and losses could be put up(talking about the 60min Flow Threads).

Open to new ideas and suggestions………….

Other than the popular threads, have put the Beginner's Section under a few "younger" Mods…..Please look into the doubts as and when they arise. And put the very important Section of "Essentials of Trading" which has not taken off as yet, with the "older" Mods….By young and old,I don't mean chronological age.

MJ,Pramod……..have given them relatively less purely because of Pramod's other projects at hand and the fact that he manages the overall site and forum. When he is free,he will be able to help out with the MiniFlow.

MJ,other than the threads that you moderate,I have something that I need you to do………Yours is the toughest task of going back over more than 10k posts and culling out the important ones…..some stupendous posts have come out by all the Mods and a few others here………and to save it in the Site as Important Contributions from Members. And once done,to regularly keep doing it…..we can discuss about the style and order later.

Thanking all the Mods once again for their sincere efforts in helping out the more junior traders, and taking this responsibility to help make this forum an even better,an even more honest place, where trading the markets is still paramount, but helping others grow in their trading is also given emphasis and importance.

All the best!
Saint

As of today,we have 6 new moderators(Satya has yet to give his confirmation though)…..New Moderators, but Old Names with regards to the Flow Methods and its variations. Not just old,but the most respected as well.

More than a Moderator who keeps the Law and Order under Control as is the case with most other forums, the job here is to moderate the discussions, answer doubts,etc……..all already being done by these very individuals here at TS and in our threads in other forums. The focus of this forum has been, from the very outset, quality and not quantity.Let this forum not be judged by its frills and fancies or its massive number of membership or its huge number of threads or the voluminous amount of chit chat…..Instead,let this forum be judged by its quality. Not just high quality academic discussions, but that which can be practically applied at the markets.

It must be understood by members and moderators alike that this forum is generating a high viewership by a huge body of very silent onlookers and therefore a certain degree of quality must be maintained.Who better to give that high quality add than Flow's Finest……..Already on board is Kapil,Puneet,MJ,….and added to that group are:Smart Trade,Prabhjeet,Beethoven,Neeraj,Vineet and Satya.(Pramod has been caught up with a few projects at hand and is not available for now,but will be joining us in a couple of months).

The reason why so many have been added is very simple………We are Traders first, and then only can the Forum assume any priority. We are nothing if our Trading doesn't go well.Trading is what we do,A Trader is what we are……Therefore to lessen the burden on any few individuals, there are 10 of us.It is as simple as that.We need as much help as possible to lighten the load and yet together, that high quality must be maintained.

A Brief Flow Intro of the Mods:

Smart Trade:Joined us a bit later after the beginning of the Flow Threads. One of Flow's Finest. No difference in the way we see things in 99% of the times.A man who practises what he preaches. Not only is he brimming with great Trading Wisdom,he is ready to share it all.Not only is he a great teacher, but an even greater trader. The Lifeline behind the MiniFlow Threads.Great to have you around,my friend!

Prabhjeet:With us from the beginning,he has seen it all.The birth of this Method, its growth and evolution and where it stands now.Has been instrumental in the way the Flow Methods have grown. An excellent Trader. He is practical, not interested in knowledge that cannot be applied, highly interested in knowledge that can give his trading that extra edge.Have watched him grow over the years to an excellent trader.Great to have you around,Prabhjeet!

Kapil:Came in much later, very silent learner. His growth is explosive.Kapil scares me,many times I read his posts and think I have written it.Sees it the way I see it.A fantastic trader,a great teacher…..Along with Puneet,MJ and Pramod, the brain behind the origins of TS.No airs and graces, very humble and yet an aggressive, ruthless trader.A great asset …..

Puneet:An incredible young man,he has that ability to see the very small pivots and use it to great perfection.Someone not afraid to speak his mind freely, and not afraid to ask his queries. Not afraid to put in that extra effort required. Not afraid to take a trade once convinced. Not afraid to follow the method to the tee…..Well,that's what Puneet is about. Not afraid,a fearless trader with a great eye and willing to put in the hard work…….As said, with Pramod,MJ and Kapil, the brain behind the origins of TS.

Beethoven:Another of Flow's Finest. He has been one of the great teachers in the Flow Threads,a great help to others.Has that practicality in what he wants to learn, and not just caught up in scholarly thesis.Willing to sacrifice anything to learn that extra bit to give his Trading that extra edge…..and then to share what he has learnt.Great to have you around,my friend!

Satya:Flow's oldest friend, and probably its purest…….the way he trades and the person that he is.One of the 2 people in this forum that I have had the great fortune to have come in direct contact with.Ruthlessly follows it the Pure Way to great success, and a great Teacher to us all.Humble,a very nice person, willing to help anyone who needs help, and above all,the main focus is to trade the markets.Great to have you around!

Neeraj:His growth in the ambush threads is explosive, his willingness to share even greater. In ambush,we are seeing most nearly alike…….also possesses the Flow trait,a trader first and foremost, and a teacher because of that.Great to have you around,Neeraj!

Vineet:Very humble, but an incredible powerhouse of knowledge…….a great trader. One of the great lifelines of our thread in TJ.Ambushes the markets with as equal an ease as he shares his knowledge.Great to have you around,Vineet!

MJ:One of the brains behind the origins of TS,He was a teenager till a year back……the trading wisdom that he has already accumulated at so young an age makes it mind boggling just imagining what he can end up becoming over the next decade.Hardworking, ambitious, wise head on the shoulders, yet another great asset.

Pramod:Kept this for the last…….a genius in the way he sees things, the brain behind TS,a great friend, the other person of this forum other than Satya that I have had the opportunity to come into direct contact with.He is busy with a few things right now,but TS misses him and looks forward to his return.

I have learnt from each and every one of the persons mentioned above……all of them I have great respect and regards for. They will all claim that they have learnt from me.Unbeknownst to them,I have learnt so much from each and every one of them.A great set of individuals. They will be around to moderate the discussions, pour their vast knowledge, and answer the doubts of the relative new.

This is a great help to me and I sincerely thank them.

Best Wishes,
Saint

Friends,

This is strictly not pertaining to flow method but effects us all. I have always been very uncomfortable with the weight Reliance and Reliance pack carry in Nifty. It is severely lopsided and NIFTY is a slave to these companies. A recent notification which I am reproducing below will hopefully change this and reflect an independent status of Nifty and hence Indian stock market.

Link is posted here for people who would like to read it from the source.

http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/nse-moves-towards-free-float/352831/

Bee

Moderators: If this is not of use then the post can be deleted later. But let our friends read it first.

NSE moves towards free float
BS Reporter / Mumbai March 25, 2009, 0:50 IST

The National Stock Exchange (NSE), has decided to calculate its benchmark indices on free float market capitalisation basis. This means that the weightages of companies in the index will be decided according to the floating stock of the company, and not by market capitalisation (full float).

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has already been calculating its indices on the basis of free float market capitalisation.

Amitabh Chakraborty, head (equities), Religare Securities, said, “This is a good move because the fair value of the index will be reflected now. All those stocks, which were heavyweights but had little floating stocks, will be adversely impacted.”

The indices, namely NSE’s benchmark index Nifty (S&P CNX Nifty), Nifty-100 and its dollar index Defty would be calculated on the basis of free floating market capitalisation, according to an announcement by NSE’s group company India Index Services and Products Limited (IISL).

The announcement also said that some of its indices like realty, PSU banks, Nifty Shariah and Shariah index of NSE’s 500 companies, will henceforth come under this new regime.

(As on Mar 24)

(As on Mar 24)

Change in
Total mcap FF Mcap * weightage
THOSE WHO WILL LOSE WEIGHTAGE
NTPC 8.15 1.94 -6.21
ONGC 9.09 5.33 -3.76
Bharti Airtel 6.25 4.66 -1.60
AND THOSE WHO WILL GAIN
ITC 3.60 8.17 4.56
Infosys Technology 4.13 7.81 3.69
HDFC 2.43 5.51 3.08
*Freefloat Mcap
(free float as per shareholding pattern December 2008)

The change in calculation method will be effective from June 26 this year. For Nifty Junior, this methodology will come into effect from May 4.

Free float method is favoured internationally as it takes into account only the equity holdings that are available for trading. The promoters’ holding generally doesn’t come for trading in the open market and, hence, that part of market capitalisation is not available for trading. Therefore it should not get the weightages for deciding the levels of indices.

“I think the free-float methodology would be better as most of the markets in the world follow this to compute index values. This move will align us with global markets,” said Ravi Nedungadi, president & chief financial officer of United Breweries.

IISL has also announced that the values of the indices to be computed on the new methodology will be part of the existing indices only and there will be no new indices. The free float factor (Investible Weight Factor – IWF) for each company in the index will be determined, based on the public shareholding of the companies as disclosed in the shareholding pattern submitted to the stock exchanges by these companies.
