I strive to be like Arjun

One of the greatest teachers in Hindu mythology was Dronacharya in Mahabharat. Mahabharat is much more popular and interesting than Ramayana as it portrays human nature and its frailties and dilemmas and our struggle with them. Ramayan is straightforward in its treatment of life as very straight and proper and does not deviate from the good and the bad and all is always black and white.

Coming to Dronacharya. His favourite was Arjun and he wanted him to be the best archer in the world. He was biased in his approach towards him as his love for Arjun overcame the first principle of a teacher to teach all students all methods (this is the popular interpretation).

He wanted to give some extra knowledge to Arjun and his son Ashwathama. But could not do so in front of all the Pandav and Kaurav princes. So he gave all students a big vessel each to fill with water from a distant stream and come back everyday.

He taught Arjun a mantra (a way) to fill the vessel fast and gave his son Ashwathama a vessel with wide mouth as he knew Ashwathama would never be able to wield the mantra. Result was, both Arjun and Ashwathama used to reach the school (ashram) much ahead to the rest of the students. Dronacharya gave lots to extra knowledge to both of them. Arjun, of course, went on to become the supreme archer.

Now Arjun had this advantage of having a very devoted and loving teacher. He had earned this because of his hard work and dedication which Drona recognised.

History also records how Drona treated Ekalavya.

Now the question arises:

1. Why did Drona act like this?
2. He was obviously a wise man and not prone to such favouritism (I do not believe in the popular interpretation). Did he think that higher knowledge is meant for only a few who deserve? Who can handle the power of knowledge? Who are capable of understanding it fully? So did he bring in gradation of knowledge disbursement according to one's ability without others knowing and hence creating unnecessary furore among the other less fortunate students?

I had a feeling that my education had stopped when the mother thread was closed by Saint. What followed in the sister threads was basically revision and application practice of the knowledge gained till that time from Saint.

When this forum started, I found, and today ST also voiced the same in one of his posts, that moderators are Arjuns and their knowledge is far ahead of mine. They are the top students of Saint, no doubt, and deserve the status of Arjun.

I hope, I am able to develop my abilities also to be like one of the Arjuns of this forum so that I also gain higher knowledge and earn the recognition from our teacher Saint to also impart us the knowledge for which we will strive to reach that level of excellence where he will think that we have arrived on the pedestal where once Arjun stood.

Saint will be remembered as one of the greatest teachers among our fraternity and we will one day tell our children and grandchildren that we were taught by him.

Great post Bee….there is scope for not 1 Arjun…but 5,10 or may be 100 Arjuns coming out of this Gurukul and you are one of them and that is sure….

Why Arjuns alone ? There will be some Ekalavyas and some Karans but in the Kurukshetra of Markets, all are going to be great warriors and that is what is important….

Best wishes,

In a twist to the original Mahabharat instead of one Arjun, all the members here are Arjuns. We are all here to learn and learn more. Sometimes I might miss out on something that was discussed when the method was evolving and at other times somebody else might miss out. But all this is part of the learning process and we are all walking on the same together.

Great post Bee….
But I feel, all are Arjuns here…

I had a feeling that my education had stopped when the mother thread was closed by Saint.

I have slightly different opinion…not an argument….but the Saint has taught a great method, showed us a way, which itself needs continuous learning….the method itself needs adaptations as per changing market conditions….the base remains the same….
We eat the same food, but change the recipe as per change in weather….

if you see, originally, i still remember a chart where, Stop loss was not moved unless new low was made.. during the course of time, there were lot of improvements in methodology like

- in case of V shape pattern, check 30 min chart.
- If market is about to have lower ckt, then close the position. or after first 5 min of mkt reopening.
- Various scenarios to handle gap.
- moving bar, moving filter concept.
- Changes in filter.
- when in strong downtrend, no change in SL unless lower low is made.
- failed breakout pattern.
- EOD reversal.

Not only that all arjuns tried to customize the method to suit their personality.
- RSI study.
- ATR study.
- Pivot study.
- profit booking.
- study of Range.
- Study of daily chart.
- Study of position sizing

and what not. Each and every point leads to study of chart. Why 2 Bar method? Why not 3 bar back? Why this filter? Why to add 3 times? why not 2 times? etc etc..

So i feel that the method itself is very much demanding and can not stop the education/learning. And the mantra is to adapt the recipe as per one's taste.
This is the greatness of this method…and a Big Thanks To Saint For This…

Kaiser….

Thanks Saint ,Bee, ST, Kapil, Prabh, MJ, Kaisar

Not only in flow method but in any field there is always some thing new to learn, new highs to be achieved. The best part of this forum is that we are doing it sincerely, we are becoming smarter by each passing day and we are tackling problem in a new way under the guidance of our teacher. The best part of Saint is that he has created many Dronacharyas who are teaching to us without expecting a penny in return. This is unheard in trading community. I have not come across any site where students are being taught in such a beautiful atmosphere.
Thanks Saint,Bee, Other seniors of the forum
